OLDHAM ACADEMY NORTH
OLDHAM Academy North is one of the best schools in the country for pupil progress.
According to the Schools, Students and Teachers Network, the academy is in the top 10 per cent of schools for the progress pupils make between their year six SATs at primary school, and GCSEs.
It has gone one better than last year’s performance, when it was in the top 20 per cent.
Principal Martin Knowles said: “I’m absolutely delighted. The work of our staff, students, families, partners and our sponsor is incredible - this is truly a team effort.”
The Royton secondary will be presented with an SSAT award at a celebration event.
Sue Williamson, chief executive of the SSAT, which was formerly the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, said: “Recognising and sharing successes like this is at the heart of SSAT’s mission, so I’m delighted to congratulate Oldham Academy North on its achievement.”
