The new Lidl development on site of old Assembly Hall in Royton.
WORK is under way to bring a new supermarket to Royton with diggers preparing the land.
The 22,000sq ft Lidl store on land bounded by High Street, Middleton Road and Croft Head, was given planning permission by Oldham Council last year.
It was previously the site of Royton Assembly Hall and latterly was used as a car park.
The former Albion Club was also demolished to make way for the development of the single-storey store.
The work will see the creation of 100 parking spaces, highway works and landscaping.
