BIRTHDAY cakes, parties and beacon lighting helped Oldham mark the Queen's 90th birthday yesterday (21).
Crowds joined together at Crompton Memorial Gardens to wish Her Majesty a "Happy Birthday" with a song and music from the Salvation Army Band.
The evening event, organised by Shaw and Crompton Councillors also saw the lighting of a beacon.
Young pupils at Burnley Brow school in Chadderton were also keen to celebrate the day, dressing in red, white and blue for a party.
The special occasion was marked by Royton and Crompton's Over 60s club with members enjoying a celebration lunch complete with homemade crowns.
The group, at Dovetales Christian Centre, planned their party for months before the event, including making table decorations, place mats and coasters during their meetings in the run up to the big day.
Pupils at Rushcroft School in Shaw enjoyed a variety royal-themed activities, including cupcake decorating, a name the royal teddy competition and crafts.
They also signed a large birthday card for the Queen.
