STUNNING... the Mercury transit captured over Springhead.
THESE stunning images of the rare Mercury transit of the sun were taken from a garden in Springhead.
John Green snapped the spectacle on from his back garden early Monday evening using a specialist hydrogen alpha telescope.
The world’s stargazers turned their telescopes to the skies, (with filters to protect from the glare) in the hope of witnessing the incredible sight as Mercury passed in front of the Sun.
The planet, which is almost 5,000km (3,032 miles) in diameter, appeared as a tiny black dot against the intense dazzle of the sun
