FIVE people were injured after a head-on collision on the A635, Holmfirth Road, at Greenfield yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the accident just below Crowther's Farm at around 5.30pm, after reports of a collision involving two vehicles, a Vauxhall Astra and another car.
Police reported that some of the passengers in one of the vehicles involved in the crash were not wearing seat belts which resulted in serious head and limb injuries to persons both in the front and rear of the vehicle.
Three men in one of the vehicles, a Vauxhall Astra, were taken to hospital.
A man and a woman in the other car were not thought to be seriously hurt.
One of the men suffered head and limb injuries and another man with lower limb injuries had to be airlifted to Hope Hospital at Salford while other casualties with minor injuries were taken by ambulance to the Royal Oldham Hospital.
The road was closed for a while as emergency services dealt with the collision until around 7.30pm.
Fire appliances from Mossley and Oldham attended the scene, along with crews from Ashton.
