A SINKHOLE has been causing problems in a Chadderton street for a month.
Resident Bill Singleton contacted the Chronicle after reporting the problem to Oldham Council last week.
The sinkhole is in Alcester Street, close to Yew Tree Primary School.
Bill said: "It is a metre and a half wide and half a metre deep. I contacted Oldham Highways department and they said they have been out to inspect is but said it's nothing to do with us, it's down to United Utilities. It's outside a primary school with a one-way street"
The hole has now been cordoned off, following a site inspection by United Utilities.
A spokesman for United Utilities said: "We believe a sewer may have collapsed beneath the ground, but need to be sure. Once CCTV images have been checked, we can make a decision about what repairs need to be carried out."
