YOUNGSTERS from Oldham were among nearly 2,000 pupils taking part in the Greater Manchester School Games.
There were competitions in sports including dodgeball, football, rugby and rounders at Manchester's Regional Arena.
The event aimed to further revive the culture of competitive sport in schools. Matt Stocks, development manager at GreaterSport and part of the organising committee, said: "Seeing so much enthusiasm towards sport from schools across the county was great.
"The Greater Manchester School Games is a memorable opportunity for young people to get involved in sport and increase their confidence.
"I believe this is just the start of many young athletes' sporting journey.
"The standard of talent was extremely high.
"The amount of effort from all the volunteers and young leaders was great to see."
