Settee set alight
Date published: 10 August 2016
A SOFA was deliberately set on fire in a Clarksfield street.
The discarded furniture in Erith Road, off Cranbrook Street, also set light to a wall, guttering and piping on a property in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Fire crews from Oldham were called to the incident at 3.30am.
Crew commander Garry Park, of Oldham Fire Station, said: "It could have been very dangerous if it had continued.
"There were people inside the house and the sofa was up against the wall.
"It set light to the wall, to the guttering and to plastic piping.
"We are returning to the property because they have no smoke alarms."
