Cyclist hit with plank of wood

A WOMAN says she was left badly shaken after she was assaulted in Chadderton.
Cheryl Williams (46) was on Martha Street, on her way to the Integrated Care Centre in Oldham town centre at around 5am on Friday, August 5, when she was attacked by a group of men in a black BMW.
Miss Williams said: "I was pushing my bike up the street when four men came up behind me.
"One claimed I spat on his car, which I didn't.
"Two got out and one of them said, let's have it out, one on one. I said 'what, with a woman?'
"Then I carried on walking and they hit me from behind with a plank of wood.
"It's left me feeling badly shaken. I didn't know any of them.
"It's shocked me completely. I don't feel safe now.
"I'm normally a confident person but my confidence has gone."
Miss Williams described the four attackers as being Asian and in their early 20s.
A GMP spokesman said: "We were called at 9am on Friday, August 5, to reports of an assault on Martha Street in Oldham. At the moment there are no active lines of enquiry."
