Sinkhole causes closure

ANOTHER sinkhole has appeared in a street in Shaw.
Church Road has been closed off until repair work is carried out.
It is not clear how long the hole has been there.
A spokesman for United Utilities said it is believed that it is a collapsed sewer and they are planning to dig down to assess the damage and start repairs today.
The spokesman added: "Until we have assessed the extent of the collapse it is difficult to say how long the work will take, but we hope to be finished by the weekend."
