ROADS in Shaw town centre were blocked yesterday afternoon and evening after two separate road traffic collisions.
Emergency services were first called to High Street, at the junction with Crompton Way, at 12.35pm to reports of a collision between a Renault Scenic and a Ford Fiesta.
A 24-year-old woman and a child sustained minor injuries and were treated at a nearby health centre.
The male driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The road was blocked for several hours while the incident was dealt with by emergency services.
A second collision was then reported shortly before 4pm less than 500 metres away on Crompton Way.
The incident involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Ford Transit.
An ambulance was called but all passengers escaped with minor injuries.
The road was blocked for several hours to allow the vehicles to be recovered, causing gridlock on nearby roads.
