FLASHBACK to a previous Delph Party in the Park
A QUIET Saddleworth community is bracing itself to wake up with a spectacular bang.
Because Saturday sees Delph's 11th Party in the Park which promises a dazzling line-up of musical talent to entertain families in a marathon gig.
The "Wake up Delph" event was started by a dedicated group of volunteers to raise money for Christmas and other celebrations in the village.
Staged at Delph and Dobcross Cricket Club and compared by Gilbert Symes, the party has now grown into one of Saddleworth's most enjoyable and well-supported events.
BBC Radio Manchester DJ and recording artist, Mike Sweeney, and his band The Thunderbirds will headline for a second year.
And the UK's premier original soul band, Stax of Soul, and one of the country's up and coming indie bands, The KMK (Kaiser Monkey Killers) will making a third visit.
Phil Beckwith, speaking on behalf of the "Wake Up" committee, said: "Tributes to Adele and Little Mix along with local rock band Black Garter are sure to make Delph really rock and and create a terrific party.
"Delph Band and top soprano Sally Matthews will set the ball rolling at 3pm and will finish the night off in style with fantastic 'Proms Finale' accompanied with a brilliant firework display in conclusion.
"So rain or shine join us for a great night out," he urges.
