EMMA DOVEY
EMMA Dovey has been selected as Manchester Thunder captain for the 2017 Superleague season.
The defender will be supported by co-vice captains Kerry Almond and Kathryn Turner.
Dovey is one of Thunder's most experienced players, and takes the reigns from long-term skipper Sara Bayman, who has signed for New Zealand side Central Pulse.
She will lead a 12-strong squad brimming with youth and experience, which includes Jamaican international Marvadene Anderson and Silver Fern Liana Leota.
The 25-year-old, who also plays for Oldham Netball Club, said: "I am very honoured to be captain of Manchester Thunder for the '16/17 season.
"Obviously we have had a lot of change within the team this year, but we are excited with our new signings, and I'm looking forward to leading our new-look team for what is set to be a very exciting Superleague season."
