JOHN SHERIDAN
JOHN Sheridan has been sacked as manager of Sky Bet League Two club Notts County.
Former Athletic boss Sheridan departs with immediate effect after a run of nine successive league defeats left the Magpies just one place and one point above the relegation zone.
The 52-year-old left SportsDirect.com Park for Notts County after the end of last season, but won only six of his 24 league games. His last match in charge was a 4-0 defeat at Cambridge on Monday.
A short statement on the club's official website read: "Notts County FC can confirm that John Sheridan is to leave his position as manager with immediate effect. The club will be making no further statement at this time."
Sheridan admitted last month his job could be under threat and now Notts County are looking for their 11th full-time manager since winning the League Two title in May, 2010.
Their next match is away at Morecambe, who are three places and five points above them in the table, on Saturday.
