MANCHESTER City are understood to be on the verge of signing Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim in a £5million deal.
The 26-year-old Israeli international moved to Stamford Bridge last summer from Bolton Wanderers but has been unable to command a regular place.
City are offering fans free travel to Oakwell on Thursday, July 31 for their UEFA Cup tie against EB/Streymur, though they say it is available on a first come, first-served basis.
They are unable to play the game at Eastlands due to repair work to their pitch following a Bon Jovi concert.
United, meanwhile, are set to lose Chris Eagles who is discussing a move to Championship club Burnley who are ready to smash their transfer record to capture the 22-year-old midfield player.
Swansea want Reds’ striker Febian Brandy on loan after the teenage striker had a successful spell with them last season.
United have completed the signings of Brazilian twins Fabio and Rafael da Silva. The under-17 internationals agreed to join them in February 2007, but under FIFA rules had to wait until they were 18 to sign professional contracts.
