BEIJING-bound Chris Newton continued his preparations for the Olympics with a consistent performance in the tough Sachsen Tour in Germany.
Oldham-based Newton, who is now preparing to fly out to China for the games with the rest of the Great Britain cycling team at the Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales, returned to Britain on Monday after the five-day event based around Dresden.
He was part of a seven-rider GB team which included some of his team-mates from the Rapha Condor-Recycling squad, and Newton played his part in helping them to glory, with Dean Downing winning the second stage and fellow Olympic-bound Ben Swift being pushed out into second in a sprint finish to the opening stage.
Meanwhile, Mossley brothers Adam and Ryan Bonser will be aiming for glory when the National Circuit Race Championships are held at Beverley in East Yorkshire tomorrow evening.
The pair - 19 and 22 respectively - will form part of a 12-strong Rapha Condor-Recycling line-up in the title race, while Ryan is also included in the squad for the East Yorkshire Classic road race on Sunday, part of the Premier Calendar Series.
