County Scare

GREATER Manchester survived a scare before booking their place in the final of the Endsleigh County Bowls Championship at the expense of Shropshire.

Their prospects looked bleak with the away side struggling at Greensfield BC, but Gary Ellis’s 21-8 victory and 21-6 and 21-9 wins at the home green of Crompton for Mark Dwayre and Alan Hodson secured a nine-points triumph for Manchester.

Manchester lost by 46 chalks away, but won by 55 at home.
