Over-50s hit semis

LANCASHIRE over-50s booked their place in the national knock-out semi-finals with a comfortable win over the Channel Islands, in Jersey.
Batting first, Lancashire totalled 213 for four, with Haslingden’s Mike England hitting an unbeaten 101.
In reply, the Channel Islands were restricted to 120 all out as Middleton’s John Punchard took three for 30, backed up by Oldham’s Mel Whittle (two for 17), Littleborough’s Chris Dearden (two for 29) and Flowery Field’s Howard Lyon (two for 11).
The remaining quarter-final ties are due to take place in the next few days before Lancashire discover their last-four opponents.
