OWEN Hargreaves makes his first appearance of the season for Manchester United in tonight’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Zenit St Petersburg in Monaco, writes TONY BUGBY.

The England midfield player, who has overcome a troublesome knee injury, will start the game, though Sir Alex Ferguson says he will play no more than an hour.

Ferguson has also confirmed Gary Neville and Nani, who has completed a three-match domestic ban, will both be in the starting line-up and Ji-sung Park, who has recovered from injury, will make an appearance as a substitute.

Dong Fangzhuo, United’s first Chinese player, has had his Old Trafford contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The 23-year-old was signed from Chinese club Dalian Shide in January 2004 but spent two years on loan at Belgium feeder club Royal Antwerp.

CITY, having completed the £10million capture of Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelsea, are now close to capturing Argentine right-back Pablo Zabaleta.

Spanish side Espanyol have given Zabaleta permission to travel to Manchester for a medical after City agreed to pay an eight-million euro buy-out clause in his contract.
