Kindred eyes second gold

SWIMMER Sascha Kindred was today aiming for a second Paralympic gold medal in the 100m breaststroke.
The 30-year-old, who used to live on Limeside, has already won the 200m individual medley in Beijing.
The Great Britain men’s basketball team today take on the United States in a clash of the silver and gold medallists from the World Cup earlier this year.
After defeating hosts China 81-34 in their opening group game, Great Britain came unstuck against Australia, losing 67-48 in yesterday’s second pool match.
Another ex-Oldhamer will be aiming for a medal later this week.
Natalie Blake, a former pupil at Park Dean, is taking part in the powerlifting. The 25-year-old finished fourth in the Athens Paralympics four years ago.
