Ferguson may turn to Ronaldo

CRISTIANO Ronaldo could make a surprise comeback for Manchester United in Wednesday’s opening Champions League group game against Villarreal.
The forward had an ankle operation immediately after the finals of Euro 2008 and many believed he would be sidelined until October.
But he has made a quicker-than-expected recovery — he is back in full training — and it is thought Sir Alex Ferguson may be ready to play him against the Spanish side.
United have two fresh concerns as Michael Carrick and new £30.75million signing Dimitar Berbatov both picked up injuries in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Liverpool.
Carrick, who has only just recovered from an ankle problem, left Anfield wearing a protective boot after receiving another knock to the joint.
Nemanja Vidic will miss Sunday’s Premier League match at Chelsea after being sent off at Liverpool.
o CITY, meanwhile, came through Saturday’s home game against Chelsea with a clean bill of health, though Martin Petrov and Michael Johnson were both ruled out of the 3-1 defeat because of injury.
