Tame Valley’s newly-promoted first team suffered a 4-1 defeat against Vale of Lune firsts in their opening match in division two north east of the JJB North West Counties Squash League.

Jamie Maddox was the only winner for the Greenfield side.

In division four east, the second team also lost, 3-2 against Monton firsts, Wayne Smith and Steve Ivell being the two scorers.

But the third team, also in division four east, started in spectacular style by defeating Bury fourths 5-0 through Graham Hall, Simon Jump, John Hesten, Eric Buchannan and Andrew Bailey.

The fourths suffered a 5-0 defeat against Rochdale CLS fourths in division five east.
