Harriers out in force

EIghteen Oldham and Royton Harriers athletes turned out to help Ron Hill celebrate his 70th birthday at the commemorative 5k race in Littleborough.

Ron, who has run every day since December 1964, was interviewed on the local BBC news before the race, and went on to finish in 330th position in 26:02.

First home for Oldham & Royton was Mike Mannings, who had a great run for 10th place in 16:55, followed by Owen Flage in 17th in 17:17.

Mike Smith had a good run in 91st position in 20:02, followed by Pete Williams in 154th in 21:42.

Darren Mannings was 167th in 21:58, Robert Smith 173rd in 22:08, Mark Mannings 177th in 22:12, Emily Hughes 208th in 22:49, Louise Clarkson 228th in 23:10, Sandrine Fraisse 231st in 23:13, Lee Whitehead 238th in 23:18, Jamie Burrows 242nd in 23:21 and David Burrows 243rd in 23:22.

Darren Clarkson was 270th in 24:12 for a new personal best, Brent Armistead 321st in 25:48, Francesca Hartwell 323rd in 25:51, Natalie Mannings 376th in 28:16 and Megan Whitworth 430th in 31:30.
