TAME VALLEY’S first team narrowly failed to follow up their first win of the season as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Bury seconds in division two central of the JJB North West Counties Squash League.
Jamie Maddox and Amir Manachouri were the successful pair for the Greenfield side.
Steve Buxton posted the only win for the second team which was beaten 4-1 by Bury thirds.
But there were impressive 5-0 victories for the third and fourth teams for the second successive week, this time against Lancs Health and Racquet thirds and David Lloyd Bolton thirds, respectively.
Graham Hall, John Heston, Richard Green, Eric Buchannan and Andrew Bailey all won for the thirds while Rod Humphries, Mark Regan, Dave Wilson, Stephen Brannan and Nigel Young triumphed for the fourths.
SOCCER: England under-21s made it to next summer’s European Championship finals as last night’s 2-2 play-off draw with Wales earned them a 5-4 aggregate success.
Tom Huddlestone put England ahead but Wales stormed into the lead thanks to Aaron Ramsey and Simon Church.
A Sam Vokes own goal brought England level and they held on despite Huddlestone being dismissed for a foul on Darcy Blake.
England boss Stuart Pearce said: “We have been pushed hard by Spain, Italy and Holland but Wales were right up there.”
