Phoenix head for semis
Date published: 17 October 2008
MANCHESTER Phoenix hammered Edinburgh Capitals 6-2 last night to put themselves within touching distance of the Challenge Cup semi-finals.
A hat-trick from David Beauregard and a goal from Bruce Mulherin within the first 18 minutes blasted any hopes the Scots had of qualifying for the final four.
Doug Christiansen and Andrej Rajcak briefly threatened to spoil the party but an absolute ripper from new signing Lucas Burnett halfway through the match settled the nerves.
And Fulghum sealed the win two minutes from time, pouncing on another Capitals error.
Phoenix are back in Elite League action this weekend with a double-header, at Nottingham tomorrow (7pm) and in Edinburgh on Sunday (6pm).
