MANCHESTER Phoenix ice hockey club have confirmed that the collapse of building firm David McLean will not affect their sponsorship this season.
McLean were in partnership to deliver a new rink in Altrincham with developer Nikal and their ‘Altair’ project was the title sponsor for the Phoenix.
But a club official said it would have no bearing on the club’s coffers as the deal was more with Nikal.
Meanwhile, Basingstoke Bison have received a second cash injection within three months in another bid to secure its future. The side’s original funding - donated by fellow Elite side Cardiff Devils - has now run out, but rink owners Planet Ice have taken over operations.
