PAUL HILL came out on top in a hard-fought Chadderton Mill AC winter series match on the club lodge.

Drawn on corner peg 16 and fishing towards the tins on maggot at full depth, he had a nine-fish haul, which included carp to 3lb for a 24lb net.

On peg 13, John Pearson opted for pellet up in the water at 14 metres and was rewarded with five carp, the biggest of which was 6lb.

Steve Hodgson, in third place, attracted a 10lb carp and some smaller samples with double red maggot at nine metres over groundbait for a 19lb catch.

Darren Webb, who was drawn on the opposite side, landed carp to six pounds thanks to corn over micro pellet and corn at 10 and 12 metres for a fourth-best 16lb 4oz.

Webb clinched the section money, so too Conrad Taylor with 14lb.

STEVE Wild was top-dog in the Cranberry AC match on Blundells Fishery.

He boasted an 11lb catch of mainly silver on pole-fished maggot and caster.

Jim Wild, the runner-up, had a 3lb 12oz bag on the long and short pole — he used maggot, pellet and caster — while Tony Lees was third with 1lb 12oz.

THE latest fortnightly members only match organised by Border Anglers on Hollingrove Dam went to Peter Jackson.

He tipped the scales at 5lb 4oz, which included a massive 2lb 4oz perch, a skimmer and some silver fish on maggot at 10 and 16 metres.

Steve Hamer, the organiser, included two skimmers and half-a-dozen roach all tempted by maggot in conjunction with a wand to weigh in 2lb 6oz.

Alan Bolton had a skimmer, roach and perch on maggot for 1lb 10oz.

THE Todmorden AS all-ticket Christmas match is on Sunday, December 14, with the draw (up to 9am) taking place at Todmorden Social Club on Halifax Road. Fishing is from 10am to 1pm.

Tickets are available from Tight Lines, Shaw, and Rochdale Angling Centre. Prices are £12 for seniors and £6 for juniors. The fee includes pie, chips and peas.

Trophies will be awarded after the match.
