Hand reaches 4,000 milestone

MANCHESTER Phoenix’ player-coach Tony Hand notched up his 4,000th point in domestic ice hockey as his side beat Hull Stingrays 7-1.
The decisive marker came on Phoenix’ first goal of a relatively easy Elite League win in Humberside on Saturday evening.
He assisted the first of a David Beauregard hat-trick after Slava Koulikov had given the Stingrays a shock lead.
Luke Fulghum also bagged a treble and Josh Garbutt’s goal completed the rout.
On Sunday, Manchester staged a late comeback but it wasn’t enough to beat a ruthless Cardiff Devils in Altrincham.
The Devils raced to a much deserved 3-0 second-period lead through Tyson Teplitsky, Phil Hill and Mike Prpich.
Fulghum (2) and Beauregard replied, but goals from Campbell and Jarvis gave Cardiff a 5-3 win.
