LEE HUMPHRIES continued his rich vein of form by taking top honours on the Chadderton Mill Lodge.
The GTI Matchman rod was competing in the Fulfilments Operations Angling Club match and, drawn on peg seven, he caught half-a-dozen carp, some skimmers and ide on double red maggot over groundbait at 13 metres for 26lb 10oz.
Darren Jones, who was some way adrift in second place, opted for corn on the deck for carp to 5lb and a 16lb total.
Third on the day was Stuart Wood, who had two carp and some skimmers on the tip and maggot for 10lb 14oz.
Mick Jewitt (Tight Lines, Shaw) used maggot at nine metres to catch 9lb of skimmers and ide.
Oldham-based Conrad Taylor (Gilders ) enhanced his reputation for catching big fish by winning Sunday’s Copthorne lake open.
He fished corn right over to catch carp to 8lb in a 44lb total.
Fellow Oldhamer and Gilders club-mate, Peter Humphreys was the runner-up with another all carp net of 41lb.
THE draw for the Todmorden AS Christmas match on Sunday, December 14, will now take place at the Todmorden Social Club, situated on Halifax Road near to the Lidl store.
Draw time is up to 9am, with fishing from 10am to 1pm.
This is a ticket-only match and they can be bought from Tight Lines, Shaw and Rochdale Angling Centre.
Prices are £12 for seniors and £6 for juniors. This includes pie, chips and peas.
Club trophies will be presented after the match.
Venue Guide
Rochdale Canal: Liquidised bread and bread punch is without doubt the best bait. Most pegs will produce using this method. Pegs by Slattocks and behind the business park are throwing up small skimmers and roach.
Chadderton Mill: Double figures are regularly winning matches on this water. Red maggot on the deck is the best method for the venue’s carp and ide.
Hollingrove Dam: Roach and perch on the pole and maggot.
Huddersfield Narrow Canal: Bites at a premium on the Saddleworth Anglers lengths. Greenfield and Uppermill lengths still good for a few fish on bread punch. Mossley lengths are hard going but bread punch and pinkies will guarantee for a few bites.
