A NEW campaign to get men supporting netball was launched at the televised game for Sky Sports between Northern Thunder and Leeds Carnegie in The Co-operative Netball Superleague.
A close encounter at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury, won by Northern Thunder 51-49, showcased The Co-operative’s Bring a Bloke Campaign, which aims to attract men to watch the sport.
Manchester City defender Nedum Onouha, the former Hulme Grammar School pupil, attended the match to show his support and present Oldham’s Karen Greig with player of the match award.
He said: “I was very impressed with the match as it was quick end-to-end stuff.
“I watch netball as my sister plays for Oldham and Lancashire County so I was happy to come along and show my support for the campaign.”
Northern Thunder are hoping more men will join the campaign and watch their home game against table-topping Team Bath on January 31 (4pm) for half price.
