Time off for United duo

MANCHESTER United have given Carlos Tevez and Anderson compassionate leave to return to South America.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson made the disclosure after the pair were absent from last night’s 18-strong squad against Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.
Ferguson explained that Tevez had been allowed to return to Argentina for a “personal issue” while Anderson was back in Brazil as his mother is ill.
“When parents and family of players are so far away, you have to be patient with them,” explained Ferguson.
Nani was also an absentee as it is understood he has also been allowed to return home to Portugal.
It is thought all three players will be back for Sunday’s FA Cup third-round tie at Southampton.
United central defender Rio Ferdinand was again ruled out of last night’s game with a back problem.
