Reports claim Kaka deal off

MANCHESTER City assistant manager Mark Bowen has said a move for AC Milan midfielder Kaka is “very close” but reports in the United Arab Emirates have claimed the deal is dead.

Bowen told BBC Radio Wales this morning that City were still hoping to recruit the Brazilian, for whom the Eastlands side are said to have bid around £100million and offered wages of £500,000 a week.

But Arabianbusiness.com, who broke the story of the Manchester City takeover, claim to have been told by a senior source that the deal is off.

Bowen said: “We understand there have been negotiations for a fair while now and as far as we are concerned we believe a deal is very close.”

A City delegation is believed to have been in Italy to discuss a move for the player.

But Kaka himself yesterday said he wanted to stay with Milan and “grow old” at the San Siro.

WAYNE ROONEY limped out of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Wigan Athletic last night to add to their growing injury problems.

The Reds’ striker is likely to be out for three weeks with a hamstring strain. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson also revealed Carlos Tevez, Jonny Evans, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo picked up knocks.

United head for Indonesia
Manchester United will break new ground this summer when they visit Indonesia as part of their four–match Asia tour.

The match in Jakarta against the Indonesia Super League Select will be played on July 24 and forms the third leg of a four–leg trip that begins in China on July 18 and heads to Seoul before the long flight south.

United will conclude their tour against a Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur on July 26.
