SHAY GIVEN revealed the prospect of “going places” with Manchester City persuaded him to move from Newcastle United.
Given has signed a four–and–a–half–year contract at Eastlands after successfully undergoing a medical.
The 32–year–old, who made more than 450 appearances for Newcastle, said: “There are big plans for the club. I am very excited to be joining and delighted that Manchester City wanted my services.”
Given is City’s fourth signing in the transfer window, and manager Mark Hughes hasn’t given up hope of capturing Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz before today’s transfer deadline.
