MANCHESTER City manager Mark Hughes is taking nothing for granted as his side prepare to face Copenhagen in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup.
The focus is on City because of their wealthy owners and the millions they have splashed out on players, but Hughes believes the competition will be tougher to win than in previous years.
However, he is looking for his side to advance at the expense of Copenhagen with the first leg taking place tonight in Denmark.
He said: “It is a difficult competition this year and as strong as it has ever been. There are some outstanding teams in it.
“If we are able to get to the latter stages we would have a real go. Our focus is to try to negotiate the next two rounds.
“Should we get to the latter stages then we might have an opportunity to go all the way.
“A UEFA Cup run is important to the club. We want to be challenging for trophies.”
Hughes has both Richard Dunne and Shaun–Wright Phillips available again after suspension. Robinho (thigh) and Micah Richards (ankle) are both expected to shake off injuries.
