Phoenix boost en route to cup final

Manchester Phoenix prepared for the first leg of the Challenge Cup Final with a 4-2 win over Edinburgh Capitals last night.

Once again the Elite League’s leading scorer - David Beauregard - produced the goods with a late double to dent Caps’ play-off hopes.

Phoenix’ player-coach Tony Hand and Brett Clouthier scored were also on the mark.

Manchester travel to Hull tomorrow (5.30pm) before returning home on Sunday to face Belfast in the first round of the Challenge Cup (5.30pm).
