LOCAL boxer Ronnie Heffron has punched his way through the first three bouts in his bid to claim a senior ABA title.
The 18-year-old from Horsedge Street, the reigning junior ABA champion, has impressed in the 64kg light-welterweight division.
Ronnie, a member of the Great Britain Podium Squad for the 2012 Olympics, claimed the North West ABA title after winning three fights in the space of six days, all by emphatic points margins
The Boarshaw boxer defeated Moss Side’s Adam Asparagus 31-4, Elite BC’s Shane Singleton 32-5 and Middleton Select’s Jason McArdle 34-4.
Ronnie’s next step will be at Liverpool next Saturday when he boxes in the pre-quarter finals.
Younger brother Mark will be one of three Boarshaw boxers in action at Gorton tomorrow as they begin their bids for a junior ABA title.
Mark fights North Side’s Adam Little in the 63kg category.
The two other Boarshaw boxers in action are Andrew Cremner and Grant Brown.
