MANCHESTER United’s dominance of domestic football is about to be reinforced by an incredible 11th Premier League title.
The Reds need only one point from their final two league matches to make it three championships in a row.
Even if they slip up at home to Arsenal tomorrow, they have another chance to wrap things up at Hull City on Sunday week.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping the party can begin tomorrow as that would enable him to rest key players at Hull only three days before the final of the Champions League.
Although United have dropped only five points at home all season, they are likely to be given a stern test by Arsenal.
The Gunners will be keen to delay United’s party and avenge their humiliating defeat to the Reds in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
United won 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium to secure a 4-1 aggregate victory.
The agony was etched on the face of manager Arsene Wenger and his players and they will be looking to restore pride.
Last week was one to forget for Arsenal, who were also beaten 4-1 at home in the Premier League by Chelsea.
But with nine league victories, six draws and only three defeats, their results on the road have been impressive.
The Gunners have considerable fire power in Robin van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner, who have scored 49 goals between them.
And they also boast the incredible skill of Russian Andriy Arshavin, who scored all four goals in last month’s 4-4 draw at Liverpool.
Arsenal will probe a United defence which has looked fragile in recent weeks in the absence of the injured Rio Ferdinand.
Luckily, the attacking riches outweigh the deficiencies and in Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez, the Reds have an array of options up front.
Tevez, the centre of considerable speculation as his two-year loan draws to a close, is keen to stay at Old Trafford.
The Argentine striker is doing his talking on the pitch and in the last week has scored in the Manchester derby to seal victory and found the net again at Wigan, where his equaliser was the catalyst for United’s fightback.
