LOCAL duo Ethan Langhorn and David Orwell both played full games for England Lionhearts in the four nations international against Wales Dragonhearts, but couldn’t prevent their side from falling to a 42-4 defeat at Brewery Field, Bridgend.
Langhorn, a Leeds Met University student who normally plays at stand-off or centre, was out of position on the wing to combat a large left side of Wales backs.
But he still managed to grab his team’s only score of the day on 10 minutes after latching on to a grubber kick, beating his marker on the outside and racing home from 35 metres out.
Orwell, an Oldham College student, operated in his usual second row position and performed well.
Langhorn and Orwell both play their club rugby for Saddleworth Rangers, who had a pair of representatives in the England Lionhearts under-18s side which lost 34-20 to Wales.
Josh Brown captained the team and both he and fellow Oldham College student Steven Kiss, son of former Wigan hooker Nicky, played a full role in an England side who did well to recover from going 20-4 down at one stage in the first half.
