ENGLAND’S cricket team, widely available at 9-4 to win the Ashes before the five-Test series began, are a best-priced 21-20 to triumph following their second-Test win at Lord’s.
Australia are out to 11-4, with the draw at 5-2.
The third Test begins at Edgbaston tomorrow week and, even though Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen are injury doubts, it is surprising that an England victory is the outsider of three outcomes at 3-1.
The draw is favourite at 7-5, with Australia next-best at 2-1.
More on this match in next week’s column.
DESPITE Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s assertion that City pose little threat to their own Premier League ambitions, punters continue to pile money on the Sky Blues.
City, who have signed Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez in the last week, are down to 14-1 to win the title.
United, whose own spending this summer has been modest in comparison to their neighbours, are out to 2-1 to retain their Premier League crown.
ATHLETIC, 33-1 to win the League One title and 10-1 for promotion, are 5-6 to open their campaign with victory at home to Stockport on August 8
The draw is 12-5 with the Hatters 7-2 to record an away win.
