BMX plan for Manchester
Date published: 22 July 2009
British Cycling have revealed plans for the world's first purpose–built BMX track in Manchester.
The £24million project – in conjunction with Manchester City Council and New East Manchester – would see a National Indoor BMX Centre built in Sportcity.
It is hoped that the project would cement Manchester's status as the home of British Cycling – it already has the velodrome – and provide a world–class facility for riders ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
If funding and planning are approved work will begin in January ahead of expected completion in March 2011.
