Belle Vue kept their season alive with a resounding 54-41 win over Poole in the Knockout Cup quarter-final last night, giving the Aces a 103-85 aggregate victory over a powerful Pirates side.
It was a strong all-round performance, despite the absence of skipper Charlie Gjedde who is ruled out until next season with a shoulder injury.
Guest Kevin Doolan top scored with 11 points and three others scored 10. For the Pirates World Cup stars Hans Anderson (14) and Aussie Chris Holder (15) stood out.
Aces will meet Coventry Bees in the semi-final.
