TONGE stayed in the hunt for Manchester Premier League honours with an 11-3 (194-135) defeat of fellow title challengers Lloyds Hotel on Wednesday.
Steve Squire led the way with a 21-3 defeat of Mike Geraghty, while Stuart Mort (21-5) was another convincing winner.
There were also wins for Jimmy Derby (21-14), Laurence Hallett (21-12), Thomas Dobson (21-10), Darren Griffiths (21-18), Gary Ellis (21-11) and Matt Gillies (21–20).
Tonge face a tough match next Wednesday when they travel to top Wigan side Garswood Hall.
FAILSWORTH’S Lee Lawton and Nimble Nook’s Gary Ellis will be chasing the £1,600 top prize in the Grange Classic at Stockport tomorrow (5pm).
Also in the field is former Oldhamer Graeme Wilson who on Wednesday clinched the £1,000 top prize in the Stockport Parks open.
The top-class line-up for finals night is: Barry Booth (Stoke) v Lawton; Ellis v Callum Wraight (Shrewsbury); Paul Dudley (Radcliffe) v Andy Spragg (Chesterfield); Paul Bailey (Birmingham) v Jeremy Muff (Holmes Chapel); Mark Ferris (Leek) v Wilson; Robbie Fitzpatrick (Liverpool) v Danny Barwise (Liverpool); Robert Hitchen (Halifax) v Chris Mordue (Bradford); Charlie Bebbington (Warrington) v Andy Cairns (Rossendale).
FAILSWORTH Bowls League delegates will meet at Stanley Road Conservative Club next Tuesday (8pm) when the main item on the agenda is the pairs merit draw.
