Wild assists in UK triumph

Michael Wild played a starring role for England in their triumph in snooker’s Home Internationals at Pontins, Prestatyn.
The Moorside ace won five of his six three-frame matches, the highlight being a 2-1 defeat of Welsh star Lee Walker, who mixed it with the world’s best during his brief career as a professional.
Wild won 3-0 against Jersey and Guernsey, 2-1 against Scotland and 2-1 against the Republic Of Ireland, England’s biggest dangers.
His only reverse was a 2-1 defeat at the hands of his opponent from Northern Ireland.
Wild, who practices at home and at the Oldham Snooker Academy in Chadderton, is in action again at Leeds on September 26 when he contests a Pro-Ticket qualifier.
The winner of the four-tournament series earns a place in the world’s top 128.
