Ellis retains bowls title

NIMBLE NOOK’S Gary Ellis retained his Waterloo Handicap bowling title at the famous Blackpool venue yesterday.
Whitefield-based Ellis, who also plays for Tonge, triumphed 21-15 in the final against Lee Heaton to take crown green bowling’s most coveted prize on a day full of local interest.
Ex-Oldhamer Graeme Wilson also reached the last four, the Audenshaw man pipped 21-20 by Heaton, while the other semi-final saw Ellis defeat his Tonge team-mate Jimmy Derby (Radcliffe) by 21-15.

Semi–finals: Lee Heaton (Chorley) bt Graeme Wilson (Audenshaw) 21–20, Gary Ellis (Whitefield) bt Jimmy Derby (Radcliffe) 21–15.
Final: Gary Ellis (Whitefield) bt Lee Heaton (Chorley) 21–15.
