Fergie goes for strength

SIR Alex Ferguson will pick a much stronger team to face Portsmouth tomorrow than for the midweek Champions League defeat by Besiktas.
Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Patrice Evra and Edwin van der Sar are among those expected to return, but John O'Shea, Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand are still out injured.
Carlos Tevez has been assured he will not be used as an impact player by Manchester City, who are at home to Hull City tomorrow.
The Argentina striker gave an impressive performance when he stepped off the bench in the draw against Liverpool last weekend.
But first team coach Eddie Niedzwiecki has dismissed the notion of the former Manchester United star spending too much time on the bench and insisted he should not be known as a ‘super–sub’.
He told www.mcfc.co.uk: “Because of the players we have and the size of the squad, there will be times when the boss (Mark Hughes) has to leave out certain individuals or play a different system. That’s the flexibility we want.”
