GEORGE FORD: England beckons
RUGBY UNION: GEORGE FORD, the 16-year-old son of former Oldham RL player-coach Mike, has been included in the 23-man squad for England RU’s under-18 international against Australian Schools.
The game will take place at Sale FC’S Heywood Road ground on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).
It is the latest landmark in the brief career of the upwardly-mobile fly-half who made history last month when he became the youngest player ever to appear in a professional RU club game when turning out for his club Leicester Tigers in the LV=Cup.
George’s older brother, Joe, is on the books of Leeds Carnegie.
Rishworth School pupil George, who is pictured in his England kit, played junior rugby league for Oldham St Anne’s, Saddleworth Rangers and Waterhead before switching codes to union.
