Roses rivals to clash in FA Cup

LEEDS United, leaders of Coca-Cola League One, will return to the big time after booking an FA Cup third-round tie at Manchester United.
Simon Grayson’s side completed a 5-1 win over Kettering at Elland Road last night — but they were taken to extra time by the non-leaguers, who equalised through Anthony Elding just after the hour mark.
Meanwhile, Blue Square Premier strugglers Barrow landed a lucrative FA Cup third-round trip to Sunderland after making short work of their league’s runaway leaders Oxford United at Holker Street.
Phil Bolland, Carlos Logan and Marc Goodfellow all scored for the home side before the visitors — five points clear at the top of the table — responded with a last–minute consolation from James Constable.
Barrow’s win will send them to the Stadium of Light on January 2 fresh with the memory of last season’s third round trip to Middlesbrough, when the non–leaguers acquitted themselves well in a 2–1 defeat.
Blue Square rivals Luton Town caused an upset as they swept aside Coca-Cola League Two high–flyers Rotherham at Kenilworth Road.
Adam Newton set the home side on their way in the seventh minute and further goals from Alan White (19) and Claude Gnakpa (68) earned the Hatters a trip to Southampton.
Goals from Ian Thomas–Moore and Terry Gornell clinched Tranmere Rovers a third-round home tie with Wolves after a 2–1 win at Aldershot, whose consolation came late from Oliver Bozanic.
Robert Grant scored the only goal of the game as Accrington Stanley edged to a 1–0 win over Barnet at Underhill. Stanley will now entertain Gillingham at the next stage.
