Phoenix keep the flame burning

ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Phoenix remain on top of the English Premier League following a comfortable 5-1 win over Guildford Flames on Saturday, thanks to a double from player-coach Tony Hand plus a 'coming of age' performance in goal by 19-year-old Adam Summerfield.
However, last night, a Romford goal in the last minute of play handed them a 5-4 win – their second over the Phoenix this season.
Jaakko Hagelberg, Ed Courtenay (2) and Andre Payette had levelled matters for Phoenix, but Romford sealed victory in a 5-on-3 powerplay in the last minute.
Meanwhile, Phoenix star Iain Bowie scored the opener as Great Britain under-20s beat China 8-0 in the opening game of their World Championship Division 2 Group A campaign in Hungary.
