Phoenix shot down in Flames

A DOUBLE comeback was not enough as Manchester Phoenix were beaten 8-7 by Guildford Flames last night.
Tony Hand's side twice erased three-goal deficits, but were ultimately sunk by an Adrian Saul penalty shot to lose 8-7.
Following a 9-2 hammering at the Flames on Saturday when forward Andre Payette received a one-game ban for fighting‚ a large crowd backed Manchester's bid to stay in the title race.
But Guildford were in no mood to hand the visitors a lifeline and followed up the previous day’s win against a Phoenix side whose defenders are struggling to regain their early-season form.
Phoenix are fourth in the English Premier League, six points behind leaders Milton Keynes Lightning
