BASKETBALL: Oldham Titans under-14s are in third place in the North-West Basketball League following their 89-52 defeat of Liverpool.
Victory guaranteed them a place in the play-offs at the end of next month.
Titans under-16s defeated Barrow Thorns 78-70 at home, but were unable to secure the 14-point winning margin they needed to clinch runners-up spot in their division should the two teams end the season level on points.
The Oldham outfit had chances to win by more, but wayward shooting cost them dear.
Titans under-18s made it a hat-trick of wins for the club thanks to a 72-68 verdict in a superb match against division leaders Preston Pride.
